What makes us different from a normal law firm?
Buttercup is being built around the way founders actually work. You get one named lawyer, direct access, clear pricing and fast turnaround. Behind them, AI handles much of the reading, drafting, checking and context that normally consumes expensive legal time.
You are not buying legal software or managing an AI tool. You are getting a lawyer with better machinery behind them.
How will pricing work?
We’ll use fixed fees wherever the work can be clearly defined. For ongoing legal support, we expect to offer subscriptions that bundle recurring work into a predictable monthly cost. Where the work genuinely depends on negotiation, judgement or changing facts, the basis will be agreed before we start.
The point is simple: you should know how you are being charged before the work begins.
Who is Buttercup for?
Founders and growing companies that need regular commercial legal support without wanting to build an internal legal team. Company work. Fundraising. Contracts. Hiring. Equity. Day-to-day questions.
The aim is to become the lawyer who already knows the company, rather than someone you brief from scratch every time something happens.
What happens when I need a specialist?
Your lawyer stays the front door. If something needs specialist tax, employment, regulatory, disputes or other expertise, we bring in the right person and keep the relationship joined up.
You should not have to start again with a new firm every time the subject changes.
Is Buttercup an AI legal product?
No. Buttercup is intended to be a law firm. AI works underneath the service to read, draft, check and maintain context. A solicitor remains responsible for the advice and the work that leaves the firm.
The lawyer stays visible. The machinery disappears.
Why does Buttercup exist?
Because the traditional law-firm model works badly for founders. Context gets split across firms and departments. Response times are unpredictable. Pricing is hard to understand. Good lawyers spend too much time doing work that software can now help with.
Buttercup is an attempt to redesign the firm around the client rather than around billable hours and internal hierarchy.
Can I become a client now?
Not yet. Buttercup is still being built and is not currently operating, taking clients or authorised by the SRA.
